DEATH ROW | JOHN LOTTER
INNOCENT MAN ON DEATH ROW
John Lotter sits on Nebraska's Death Row for a crime he did not commit.
John was arrested on Dec 31,1993. He was charged alongside Thomas Nissen for the murders of Teena Brandon, Lisa Lambert and Philip DeVine.
During John's trial Nissen testified that it was John who shot and killed all three victims. In exchange Nissen would be spared the Death Penalty.
Even though the evidence against John was very weak and in no way could prove that he was at the farmhouse that night, or even committed the murders, Nissen's testimony was enough, and John was convicted of three counts of first degree murder and sentenced to Death.
Fourteen years after the murders were committed, Nissen signed an affidavit admitting that he lied at John's trial and that he, not John, actually killed all three victims.
